Orange County GOP Selects New Meeting Venue

The Orange County Republican Executive Committee recently packed up and moved. The REC's new meeting location will be at Central Christian University near Hiawassee Road in Pine Hills. OCREC's Chair Charles Hart said he selected the location as a result of the landlord's offer for a rent-free space.

Central Christian University hosted Vice President Mike Pence at a recent event this past autumn in a bid to woo Latino voters. The event took place under the guidance of hosts lcoal activist Carolina Amesty and Pastor Juan Carlos Amesty. In the end, the effort seemed to pay off with Trump winning in the state of Florida and Latinos in larger numbers than before.

The move comes at a time when Hart's status as Republican chair comes under question. The controversy arose when reporters discovered Hart maintains three personal addresses publicly: two in Sanford and Apopka, as well as one in downtown Orlando he quitely disclosed to friends in February. According to the Bar's website, the Republican County Chair's physical address is at 520 W Lake Mary Blvd in Sanford. Hart did not update his physical address upon his move to the Eola area.

With clients at few to none according to public records, some question how the Chairman can afford his new apartment with rents ranging as high as $2k per month. Under REC rules, no officer can hold a position on the committee without being a resident of the county.
