Vote No On Weaver

Todd Weaver's airburshed picture is perhaps as fake as his promises. And despite his lackluster performance as a commissioner, Winter Park’s do-nothing darling recently announced his bid for reelection to the city commission.

Let’s not kid ourselves about Todd Weaver's tenure. His time on the commission has revealed Weaver to be a complete disaster and a fraud. Instead of revamping and supporting the city's infrastructure, and providing for reasonable and smart growth, Weaver fought for issues like backyard chickens and supported single-member districts in order to allegedly elect a black commissioner.

Let's put the stupidity of backyard chickens aside for a moment and look at a bigger issue. Weaver's apparent social benevolence masks his true intentions. If he really cared about electing a black commissioner, he would resign and have the commission vote in a person of color. But of course, he won't, and it’s mere coincidence that the western side of Winter Park, which also shares the majority of its black population, is also where the commissioner calls home.

We don’t mean to pick on one man. The entire commission is mediocre and antithetical to progress. But Todd Weaver stands taller than the rest in his ability to malign the interests of voters— and it’s only right that residents were elucidated as to the unflinching demagoguery and fraudulence perpetrated within their city by one gadfly commissioner.
