Anti-Brightline Group Emerges

An anti-Brightline group has emerged to combat a proposed rail route along the 417. Supporters of the organization claimed that the route along the 528 is better for business and less economically and environmentally precarious.

But as Central Florida political insiders know by now, the true battle lines remain fixed between Walt Disney World and Universals I-Drive corridor. Businesses surrounding and adjacent to I-Drive expressed frustration with the proposed route Brightline indicated as it’s preference due to the exemption of the Universal tourist area.

Brightline, on the other hand, has stated that the line's cost effectiveness would be hampered due to a greater number of bridges and $700 million worth of additional costs along the 528, although some local leaders publicly and privately articulated support for the route.

The organization's website can be found here.
